Ribbon created EPIC to address these gaps by increasing linkage and retention in HIV primary care and services among Black cisgender women living with HIV. As the Amp Grant Program Lead for the Enhancing Peer Involvement in Care (EPIC), Ribbon provides technical assistance and program support to five peer navigation programs that currently offer peer patient navigation services to Black cisgender women living with HIV.
Ribbon's primary strategy for EPIC is to integrate health literacy, health system navigation, and knowledge of the HIV Continuum of Care as the gold standard for supporting Black cisgender women living with HIV. EPIC will achieve this by using a gender-responsive health literacy tool as an innovative, evidence-based, community-informed intervention to increase the retention of Black cisgender women living with HIV in care and achieve sustainable viral suppression.
